Safety Ratings for Select Volvo Cars

What springs to mind when you think about Volvo cars? Great looks, state-of-the-art features, and versatility are some of the things that probably enter your thoughts. If you’re familiar with the automaker we proudly represent, then it’s likely that safety also comes to mind when you think about the vehicles in our new car inventory.

Every year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tests automobiles and assigns each model a safety score based on its performance in those tests. Top Safety Pick+ is the best score the IIHS gives out, with Top Safety Pick being the institute’s second-best safety rating. To earn either of those marks, a vehicle must earn high scores in a series of crashworthiness tests. A car’s headlights and front crash prevention system must perform well in separate tests as well.

Earning the rank of TSP or TSP+ is significant. That’s because those ratings identify the vehicles that are considered to be among the safest in their respective classes.

As your Allentown, PA Volvo dealers, we’re extremely proud to tell you that two Volvo models earned high safety ratings from the IIHS. More specifically, the 2019 Volvo XC60 earned the Top Safety Pick rating while the 2019 Volvo XC40 earned the mark of Top Safety Pick+. It should be noted that each vehicle earned its coveted safety rating when outfitted with specific headlights.

When you visit our local Volvo dealership on 33rd St. SW, we’ll join you for a test drive in a Volvo crossover that’s celebrated for being safe. Whether you prefer the new Volvo XC60 or the 2019 Volvo XC40, you won’t be disappointed with what a Volvo crossover has to offer.
