Announced last year, the World of Volvo experience center was conceptualized as the beating heart of Volvo Cars and a landmark in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden. Now, months ahead of its official inauguration in early 2024, the building is starting to host its first official guests in exclusive events.
The World of Volvo building is still currently under construction, but enough of it has been finished to allow the structure to begin fulfilling its purpose as a central Volvo location and a public venue for Gothenburg. Located on the side of the E6, just south of the amusement park Liseberg, the building is a masterclass in Nordic architecture, with natural inspiration from trees and greenery. Its double function makes the space even more open and inviting.
“Apart from our exhibitions, it won't cost anything to visit World of Volvo; the building and the park around it will be open to everyone. Our goal is to create a place where the city's residents can meet and students can easily find a place to study in a pleasant environment,” says Magnus Wrahme, CEO of World of Volvo. ”In a Swedish context, World of Volvo will be a unique arena that we believe will help to lift the whole of Gothenburg. We are very proud of this initiative.”
As of earlier this year, conference rooms on the building’s fifth and highest floor have been bustling with bookings from companies who want to embrace the unique experience that the location can provide. With state-of-the-art technology, a broadcast studio, unbelievable views, and impressive food prepared by renowned restaurant owner Götaplatsgruppen, World of Volvo offers things that the average conference center can’t hold a candle to.
“We want to offer something that suits everyone. For large occasions customers will be able to book the event hall on the ground floor, which can accommodate over 1000 people, or rent the entire World of Volvo, including staff. There are great possibilities and few limitations," Wrahme continues. “When you choose to hold your event, conference or congress with us, you get a vibrant place with activities, life and movement for free. We want to create an environment that inspires and engages and a place you want to come back to.”
The 22,000 square-meter building is expected to be fully completed and ready for operation early in 2024, but until then, it will continue hosting smaller, introductory events, impressing visitors and establishing itself as a city center for Gothenburg.
